Q: How does the Open Wounds ability work?
A: When a weapon possessing Open Wounds strikes a monster, there is a chance that the monster will bleed uncontrollably, constantly losing health as a result.
Q: What does the Crushing Blow ability do?
A: When a weapon with Crushing Blow strikes a monster, there is a chance that the monster will be reduced to 50% of its current life.
Q: My character has a 100% chance (or higher) of getting a magic item. Why isn't every item I get magical?
A: Your character's percentage chance of finding a magic item is applied to each monster's base chance of dropping a magic item. If a monster has a 1% chance of dropping a magic item, and a character has a +100% chance of finding a magic item, then his chance of getting a magic item from that monster becomes 2%. If the monster's base chance were 40%, then the character's chance of receiving a magic item would be 80%.
Q: I put on an item with a defense rating of 10, but my character's overall defense rating went up by more than 10. Why?
A: Your Dexterity bonus might be affecting this, as might your passive skills (such as Iron Skin), or any magical bonuses (including some auras) that boost your defense rating.
Q: I have an item that says "10% life (or mana) stolen per hit." What does this mean?
A: You will receive 10% of the damage you cause as either life or mana. For example, if you deal 100 points of damage, you will gain 10 points of life or mana.
Q: I have an item that says "Requirements -50%." Does that apply only to this item or to all my items?
A: This will only decrease the requirements for the item with this ability. In this example, if the item normally required 100 Strength, with the ability, it only requires 50 Strength.
Q: I have an item that says "Damage reduced by 1" and another item with "Magic damage reduced by 1." What is magic damage, and what is non-magic damage?
A: Weapons and hand-to-hand attacks cause non-magic damage. Any character or monster attacking with a sword, by hand, with claws, with arrows or bolts, etc., does non-magic damage. Magic damage is always elemental: fire, cold, lightning, or poison. Some attacks do both magic andn non-magic damage. For example, an axe of thunder does non-magic damage with its physical impact and magic damage with its lightning ability.
